Patch Notes 3.5.0

Skin Tier Lists, Shop History as a calendar, automatic translation for posts and rooms, and post images that no longer get squashed.

Hey, Raphael here! 3.5.0 turned out to be a big one. It has Skin Tier Lists, Shop History, automatic translation and a cleanup of bugs I should have caught earlier (one of them had been sitting there since June, more on that below). Here’s what changed.

What’s new

Skin Tier Lists

Everyone has an opinion on the best Vandal skin. Now you can put yours on record:

  • Pick a weapon and build a list with up to 20 of its skins, in tiers from S to D.
  • Drag skins from one tier to another. Tap a skin to reorder or remove it.
  • Share it with the community as a regular post, with likes and comments.
  • You’ll find it on the Live tab, right below the quiz, and in the post editor next to the GIF button.

Skin names show up in the reader’s language, so your list still makes sense to someone on the other side of the world.

Shop History

You know the “has this skin ever been in my shop?” question. The app now saves the four skins from your shop on the day you open it, and shows everything on a calendar: tap a day and see what was for sale.

  • The most recent day is open to everyone.
  • PRO subscribers see the whole history and how many times each skin has shown up for them.
  • Each skin in the shop got a line saying how many shops it appeared in, counting all users. That number takes a few days to show up. Until then you’ll see “still collecting data”, and I’d rather show that than a made-up percentage.

To be clear about what gets saved: only which skins were in the shop. Prices, purchases and spending are not recorded. The privacy policy has the details.

Automatic translation

The SpikeHub community speaks a lot of languages, and until now everyone stayed in their own corner. Posts and comments in another language now show up translated in the feed, with a “Show original” link underneath if you want to check. In rooms, press and hold a message and tap Translate.

Favorites right in the shop (PRO)

The favorite skin alert has been around since 3.3.0, but the heart was tucked away on the skin’s detail screen. Now every skin in the shop has one. Favorite it and the app lets you know the day it comes back.

Improvements

  • Post images no longer come out squashed. With more than one, they become a carousel. Tap to open them full screen, sharp and zoomable.
  • Fewer ads in the shop. There used to be one every time you opened the screen. Now it’s one every 15 minutes at most.
  • The room chat no longer jumps to the bottom when you open the menu on an older message.

Bug fixes

  • Reporting a post had been failing since June. Nobody could report anything, and I only found out while testing this version. It’s fixed, and the fix also reaches people who haven’t updated the app yet.
  • Idle rooms weren’t expiring. A room with no messages for 30 days now leaves the list, as it always should have.
  • Photos and icons that looked stretched on several screens (player cards, sprays, room banners) are back to the right proportions.
  • YouTube thumbnails on posts were blurry.
